"Give ear to my Prayer, O God; and do not hide yourself from my supplication." Psalm 55:1
"When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You." Psalm 56: 3
"I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to You among the nations." Psalm 57: 9
These 3 chapters, as in most of the Psalms which were written by David, are a distinct glimpse into David's prayer life. Psalm 55:1 David begins with a plea for God to hear his prayer and his heart's desire. In 56:3, David claims his complete trust in the Lord counting on Him to work out his difficult circumstance. Then in 57:9 he gives thanks and praise to the Lord outwardly, meaning that people could see it and hear it. Like David's prayer, our prayers before our Lord should be humble, transparent, confident, and thankful, meaning that it is all about Him. I covet that close relationship David has with His Lord. This kind of prayer in our lives will show outwardly.
O Lord, please cause me to look to You and You alone and find in me a heart a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to You.
