The heart of the wise makes his speech judicious and adds persuasiveness to his lips.
Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
Proverbs 16:23-24
This morning I woke up from a dream where I was reminded a situation of over 10 years ago that really
sparked some anger in me. It was an old wound that was all but forgotten, but the dream conjured up raw
emotion that plagued my mind. As I sat down to hear from Him I was begging the Lord that I could renew
my mind and re-proclaim the forgiveness that I have already given this person.
What it made me realize is how quickly I could lose my cool and dishonor the Lord by slandering or
profaning the name of this person. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, I begged the Lord to make this
true in me.
Lord, cause my heart to be wise and discerning. Please help me be persuasive with words that are
gracious. Regardless of the situation, regardless of the temper of my flesh, Lord please cause the
words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart to be pleasing to you Lord.
