Recently I’ve been reading the
really exciting period of the Bible, the post-resurrection appearances of
Jesus, on this earth. Just think about that, the risen Jesus, walking this same
earth that I walk every day. That thought should make it easy for me to follow
Him.
However He didn’t just walk around, He interacted and He
spoke. Words like in Matthew 16:24 where
He qualified how to follow. “If anyone would come after me, let him deny
himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
Each morning as I awaken, thoughts of the ‘to-do’ list I
wrote the night before begin to flood my mind. Before I know it I am beginning
to plan my day, my way. The best mornings are when that still small voice lights up my mind with deny yourself, and take up your cross and follow Me. Deny my list,
my plan, my day; lay it all down, then grab that cross and love Him enough, to follow
Him.
Sound difficult or impossible? Re-charge with 220 power,
Galatians 2:20 that is, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live,
but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in
the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for
me.”
