Hearing
God’s Voice
“This site is shared by the Elders and
Leadership of WVBC.
Each post is a description of what the Lord
is speaking
to their heart through the Word.”
So what do you do when you’re not “hearing” God’s voice, when He’s not
speaking to your heart through His word?
What do you do when you come to the water well to drink but the bucket
that you draw from is empty? What do you do when your time with God feels like
wandering through a desert and there is no water in site? Of course you might
stumble across some puddles of water every now and again, to which you cup your
hands together and drink but the source is quickly consumed and shortly you are
back to thirsting for His voice. What do you do when you’re in this desert place
and there appears to be no end in site? Your time with the Lord is dry and
empty and no matter what you do it doesn’t seems to change.
What do you do when you’re not “hearing” God’s voice, when He’s not
speaking to your heart through His word?
Continue asking, continue seeking, and continue knocking, and continue
listening. God says seek Me with all your heart and you will find Me. That’s a
promise we can cling to even in the driest droughts. When it seems like He’s
not answering, keep asking. When it seems like He’s nowhere to be found, keep
seeking. When it seems like He’s not opening the door, keep knocking. When it
seems like He’s not speaking, keep listening. Keep on keeping on and remember the words of our
Brother Peter, who said “Lord, to whom
shall we go? You have the words of eternal life”.
Reader, to whom and to where shall you go? Jesus, is the only one with words of eternal life. Patiently seek Him and keep your ears open in the process.
Your fellow servant,
Ryan
