Condemnation! One of the greatest weapons that the enemy
uses in the life of a Christian is condemnation. Why is this?
Well, in the court of law, when someone has been found
guilty of a crime, they are then sentenced to a particular punishment that fits
the crime… they are condemned. Being condemned is simply being found guilty and
having to pay the penalty for it.
So why is this a well-used arrow in the enemies arsenal?
The enemy seeks to rob Christ of all His glory, honor, and
praise and when the enemy moves the believer to “feeling” condemned (guilty and
having to pay for it) he has done that very thing. Condemnation steals all the
glory, honor, and praise due to Christ. When the believer sins, yes, he is
guilty but no, he is never condemned. The believer never has to pay the penalty
for that sin. At the top of Calvaries hill, for all to see, Christ hung on a
tree to pay the penalty for you and me. Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree!
Christ was cursed for us, Christ was crucified for us, yes, Christ was
condemned for us!
If a penalty for ones sin has been paid for in full, there
is then no condemnation for that person, just a feeling of guilt for the crime committed. Condemnation
robs Christ of all the glory, honor and praise due to Him because it seeks to
dismiss the penalty He paid on the cross and place the penalty back on us to
pay. The enemy makes us think that we need to do something that Christ has
already done. We were guilty as charged but now free from the punishment of
that verdict by the blood of Jesus. Righteous we stand because condemned He hung.
Next time we commit a crime (sin), and the feeling of guilt rightfully comes,
may that guilt lead to confession and repentance and not to condemnation. The
work of the Spirit is guilt leading to confession but the work of satan is
guilt leading to condemnation. May
we not let the enemy rob our King of all that is due to His name by leading us
to “feel” condemned. Confront the lie with the truth and give Christ all His
due!
Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in
Christ Jesus.
