The gift left unopened...

Good Morning.  I know I'm blogging out of order, so forgive me!  I just felt compelled to share what was on my heart this morning as I enjoyed my coffee and time in His word amongst the wrappings and kids playing with their latest treasures.

It is my hope this morning that someone might read this blog and realize there is a gift yet unopened for them.  Someone who awoke this morning and found that yesterday's festivities and gifts didn't fill the hole in their heart.  It didn't satisfy the thirst they are feeling for some deeper meaning in their lives.

For a follower of Christ, we know the greatest gift of all is Jesus Christ!  The Son of God who was given to the world so we could be forgiven and made righteous in God's eyes.  This would allow us to be in His presence both in a supernatural way here on earth but then in a physical and eternal way in heaven.  But if you don't know Him, the perfect gift remains wrapped and unopened.  You might not have even noticed it there among all the wonderful gifts you got last night.  In fact, all things, all possessions, and even all our earthly relationships pale in the sight of the Gift of God's Son.

You know this verse but do you know the Son of this verse? "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16) Don't let this verse be something you memorized as a child, but something real and living in your heart today.

Let today be the day you open God's gift to mankind.  It will start the greatest relationship you could ever imagine!

Fellow believers, you aren't off the hook either!  We have been given a great gift, but not to just hide and keep to ourselves but to always be sharing.  Take stock in your relationships outside the church an seek those who would hear the news of this gift.  Pray that God will prepare their hearts.

Now, get all that wrapping paper cleaned up!
