Like a Bride, Waiting For Her Groom...

Today I woke up with the song, "Even So Come" by Kristian Stanfill running through my mind, particularly the verse, "Like a bride waiting for her groom, we'll be a church ready  for You".
I will admit that the concept of being a bride, even as a member of the Body, is difficult for me.  I am male after all.
Pondering this as I went through my routine, I began comparing a 1st century bride to a bride of today, and I was suddenly struck with a much deeper meaning to this relationship than I had ever understood before. I began to realize that a woman in the 1st century - in fact in every century until recent times, was extremely dependant on her husband for survival. Just so the church is totally dependent upon Christ for her survival.
I did some reading on the relationship of the Church and Christ, which reminded me that we, the Church, are Betrothed (or engaged) to the Bridegroom (Christ). During this Betrothal period, we are responsible to be faithful to our Groom.
Lord, help me to be faithful unto you, as a bride betrothed.  Amen.
