For you parents out there, you might agree that one of the most difficult concepts to teach our young ones is contentment. Actually, that is difficult for some adults too!
Just about every night, I pray with my kids at bed time. I try to change it up and stay away from praying the same robotic prayer all the time. Lately, we've been praying for things that God has blessed us with that might seem simple. Things like beds and pillows, refrigerators to keep our food safe, cars, toilets; you get the idea.
It's crazy how good we have it in America. A few night ago at dinner we counted the number of places in our home where you could get fresh running water on demand. 16! When you compare that to places were kids walk miles with plastic jugs and pots to get water, that number seems crazy. Our praise that night was running water!
Being content with our lives and circumstances mean we trust God with our lives and circumstances. Getting my children to focus on how they are blessed in simple ways helps us all to have happy hearts.
